Fine Arts at Beth Eden Print E-mail

Beth Eden students benefit from many fine arts activities.  God has blessed us with gifted teachers in the areas of art, drama, and music.  Students are given opportunities to develop, excel, and serve in these areas from an early age.

Music

Elementary students begin their music education in K4 and continue throughout their elementary years.  All classes participate in age-appropriate choirs.  BEBS 4th graders begin to learn the basics of instruments with recorders.  In 5th grade students are required to take part in hand bells, as well as beginning band or beginning strings.  This solid foundation in music allows students to develop a love and appreciation for music.  Elementary music concerts are held each year.

Middle School students continue their music education by participating in choir.  They may also participate in intermediate band, intermediate strings, or hand bells (by audition).  Middle school students are encouraged to participate in CACS group and individual competitions.   A Christmas concert and spring concert are presented during each school year.

High School students enjoy participating in an award winning music program.  Ensembles include concert choir, concert band, concert strings, and hand bells (by audition).  Historically, they have been very competitive in CACS competitions as groups and individuals.  High school music students are given opportunities to perform in the community as well as in the school Christmas and spring concerts.

*Private lessons by qualified instructors are available during the school day at the school facility.  Please contact the school office for information on availability and requirements.

Art

Elementary students participate in a formal art class once each week.  Emphasis is placed on calligraphy, monochromatic art, polychormatic art, watercolor, oil painting, acrylic painting, sculpture, and printmaking.  Art pieces are showcased at a local public library and our spring music concert.

Middle School students may participate in a formal art class as an elective course.  Classes meet as often as four times weekly.  Instruction in calligraphy, monochromatic art, polychromatic art, watercolor, oil painting, acrylic painting, sculpture, and printmaking is available and is tailored to the interest, age, and ability of each student.  Students are encouraged to enter art work into the CACS competition.  Art pieces are showcased at the spring music concert.

Drama

Elementary students are given the opportunity to tryout for the elementary play which is produced every other year.  This gives our youngest students the pleasure of "getting their feet wet" in a school performance.

Middle School students also produce a play on alternating years.  This enables them to use some of what they have learned in speech class on stage.  Students may also participate in small group or individual speech catagories for the annual CACS competition.

High School students put on a major play production every spring.  In this way those students who enjoy acting can refine their abilities throughout their high school years.  They may also participate in a wide variety of small group or individual speech competitions at CACS annual competition.
